DIGITAL ROSS PRO FROM ROSTRA OFFERS HIGH-TECH REAR OBSTACLE SENSING PERFORMANCE
Rostra Precision Controls—Tuesday, July 25, 2006
LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Rear Obstacle Sensing System Pro (ROSS® Pro) from Rostra Precision Controls Inc. provides an extra measure of safety by alerting drivers when someone or something is in their backing path.
Operating like an extra set of eyes, Rostra’s ROSS Pro detects objects that are not in clear view. The system mounts out of sight behind a vehicle’s bumper, and warns drivers of obstacles up to 12-feet from the rear of the vehicle. It even works in the dark, at night, and in poor weather conditions like heavy fog, rain or snow.
“Our ROSS kits are the perfect answer for individuals seeking a higher level of safety in their vehicles,” said Sibyl Ringsdorf, manager of marketing and national accounts, Rostra Precision Controls Inc. “It’s particularly useful for families with small children, or for use in high-profile SUVs or vehicles where it is difficult to see out the rear windows”.
Rostra’s ROSS Pro system uses microwave technology to detect blind spot objects. Drivers are then alerted through a series of audible beeps that increase in intensity as the object draws closer, and from an in-dash read-out display with green, yellow and red warning lights.
The digital, microprocessor-based ROSS Pro also features an automatic reset, allowing the system to clear itself once any original target or obstacle (such as a person walking behind the vehicle or a passing shopping cart) is out of range. New obstacle detection begins immediately after reset.
“Most people don't realize that they can have the latest, state-of-the-art safety technology in their vehicles on an aftermarket basis,” said Ringsdorf. “Regardless of whether it’s a pre-owned car, used pick-up or brand new SUV, the ROSS Pro system can be easily and affordably installed as an option.”
ROSS Pro kits are available for most automotive applications and in a Quick Connect form for all mid- and large-size SUVs and pickups which feature a seven-wire trailer hitch.
For DIY’ers, the system easily installs in about an hour using just a drill, pliers and screwdriver.
Made in the United States, ROSS Pro has a three year, 36,000-mile warranty. To find a dealer call Rostra at 1-800-782-3379, or visit the company’s Web site at www.rostra.com.
