When triggered, it sends a signal to the AS-80 unit, activating an audible alarm. Up to 30 WSS transmitters can be coded to a single AS-80 unit. The transmitters have an operational range of up to 100 feet.       "The installation options are endless," said Bob Folkestad, director of electronics and innovations, SPAL. "You can create a security system for virtually anything, including your vehicle, garage or race car trailer."       Folkestad explained the AS-80 unit acts as "command central" while the WSS transmitters play the role of "security guards." A car owner, for example, would install an AS-80 unit in his vehicle and WSS transmitters on all doors. Opening an armed door causes the magnetic sensors inside the WSS to break contact, prompting the transmitter to "report" a disturbance (via remote signal) to the AS-80 unit, which sounds the alarm.       "You can assign a transmitter to anything that moves," said Folkestad. "That includes toolboxes, drawers, rear sliding windows, tailgates, bed covers, compartment doors, safes and file cabinets.       What makes this system ideal is how simple it is," he continued. "The transmitters are battery operated, so there's nothing to wire, other than the AS-80 unit. You can equip your RV with an OEM-quality anti-theft system in less than an hour."       Both the AS-80 unit and WSS transmitter use the latest technology (433 MHz, random encrypted code with Sound Acoustic Wave) to ensure optimum performance.
